It's been a While

Even though I haven't posted here for three months, Zaapt has been gathering steam.

So much development, refactoring and additions have been going on to Zaapt recently that I've been neglecting the blog and concentrating on coding (and novel writing and other site developments).

Anyway, here's a number of things that has been happening to Zaapt recently, in no particular order of time or importance:

  • RBAC fully developed and functional
  • refactoring of ALL the view/render components
  • refactoring of ALL the edit*.mhtml components
  • refactoring of ALL the lib/Zaapt/Store/Pg/*.pm modules
  • addition of a Calendar model
  • addition of a Dir model
  • many other fixes and improvements along the way

You can see by my Zaapt graphs on Ohloh that recently the LOC has gone down. This seems weird but it's actually awesome. I've removed a lot of code recently (Dec 2007) and actually made it much more functional. Deleting code makes me happy.

But even better news is coming very soon. Zaapt v0.1 is finally within sight. I have started using the Google Code Zaapt Issue list to start tracking everything that needs to be done and this has also help me determine what I need to do before I can release v0.1. In fact, I even know what's going to be in v0.2 as well (to be reviewed after v0.1 is out). I must admit, the issue system Google Code is providing is pretty sweet.

Watch out for a news item or two very soon about other developments, but also keep your eyes peeled for an announcement for a candidate release of v0.1.
